John “Jack” Lawrence Mullen Jr.

John “Jack” Lawrence Mullen Jr., 74, passed peacefully in his sleep on March 27, 2022. Born January 7th 1948 in Elmont in Queens NY, he was the son of John and Margaret Mullen. He studied Studio Arts at SUNY Stony Brook.

Jack was an artist and a master moldmaker, and passed away still as a proud veteran of Woodstock. During his life he had worked on many great sculptures that now stand in testament all around our country.

Jack’s influence cast a wide net and was an inspiration for many in his local community. He had taught at the Woodstock School of Art and was an avid supporter of the local arts. During his life he had lived in many places, always to return to the Kingston/Woodstock area. He was also a prolific reader and advocate of living the life you have. No matter how much his body aged, he never got old. He had twice travelled from coast to coast and back again via motorcycle purely for the experience, regaling all with his adventures.

He is survived by his siblings Peggy Kinsey, Charles Mullen, Regina Mullen, William Mullen, his son Jay Mullen and his grandchildren Anjelena, Michael and Liberty.

A celebration of his life will take place 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Family suggests donations in Jack’s memory be made to the Woodstock School of Art: https://woodstockschoolofart.org/support/friends-of-the-woodstock-school-of-art/
Expressions of condolence may be shared with his family on Jack’s Tribute Wall at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com
