Gladys M. Myer

SAUGERTIES… Gladys M. Myer, 86, of Old Route 212, died Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the Golden Hill Nursing Home after a short battle with cancer.

She was born on December 10, 1934 in Manning, SC, the daughter of the late David and Bessie Gillis Holladay. Gladys moved to Saugerties with her husband, Donald W. Myer, in 1957. She was a member of the Centerville Methodist Church, VFW Post 5034 Auxiliary, the Saugerties Garden Club, and a former member of the Centerville Fire Company Auxiliary.

Gladys was a strong woman who always put the needs of others above her own. She loved cooking, gardening, photography, vacationing, spending time with friends, watching the boats on the Hudson River from the Malden Park, and family dinners. She enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by her family, whom she loved unconditionally and absolutely. She will be missed by many.

Survivors include two sons: David “Mickey” Myer and his wife Janet Parr and Danny and his wife Loretta Myer, both of Saugerties; one daughter: Donna Lynn and her husband Kerry Harris of Jessup, MD; two sister-in-laws: Ruby Holiday of Greenwood, SC and Evelyn Mower of Lake Katrine; her beloved grandchildren: Alexis Myer, Chris Franza, Jared, Tallin, and Kyle Rompella, Michael Parr, Selina Parr Palmer and Dana Parr; five great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Myer and all of her brothers and sisters.

Her funeral service will be held 10AM Friday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., cor. of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Burial will follow at Blue Mountain Cemetery. Her visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday. Face covering and social distancing mandates will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude’s and the Centerville Methodist Church.
