Gail Slotwinski

Gail Slotwinski, age 73, of Bearsville, NY, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at her residence. She was born September 16, 1944 and grew up in Carteret, NJ, the daughter of the late Adolph and Hildegard (Wolschlager) Slotwinski.

Gail received her Master’s Degree in teaching and art from SUNY New Paltz and was a devoted Kindergarten teacher at the Duzine School in New Paltz for 30 years until her retirement in 1999.  She was a member of the New Paltz United Teacher’s Union.  She was very interested in the arts and was an avid photographer.  She was also a lover of astrology, the sun, the moon and the stars.

She is survived by her sister, Jean DeLaura of Wanaque, NJ; two nephews, George, Jr. and Gregory; her cousin, Karen Tallman, a great-nephew, Alexandre DeLaura and great-niece, Jackie Anais DeLaura ; many other cousins in New Jersey and a group of devoted friends.  She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, George DeLaura and her beloved Sharami and David Kerr.  She was also predeceased by her cats, Honey Bear and Mariah.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11 am at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.

The family suggests a children’s book be donated to the Duzine School Library in Gail’s memory or a memorial donation may be made to Hospice, Inc., 400 Aaron Court, Kingston, NY  12401.
