Elaine Hammond

Elaine Hammond died peacefully and unexpectedly in her sleep at home in Bearsville, NY on September 18th. She was 85 and had lived a rich life.

Elaine was born December 24th, 1934 in Woodbury New Jersey to Robert Willits Hammond and Alice Stackhouse Tozour. She is survived by her Husband, Bill Kronenberg, and his children Kathy, William and Christine; by her daughter Justine Leger and her husband Philip Leger and children Rozele, Calli and Phoebe; and her son Adam Disick and his wife Elisa Disick and children Emme and Jordan.

Elaine graduated from Florida’s Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1955 and later in 1980 she received a Masters degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Pace University. She worked for NYS as a mental health nurse from 1977 until she retired in 1999.

Elaine moved from Florida to New York City to Croton on Hudson, NY then settled for the past 40 years in Woodstock NY. She wintered with her Husband in Cedar Key, Florida for the past 20 years. Elaine was active in the Women’s Liberation Movement and was a strong supporter of equal pay and equal rights for women. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. She was elected to the Woodstock Library Board and fulfilled her term with her passion for learning and libraries. She was an artist showing in Woodstock’s annual 5×7 show.

Most of all Elaine was a kind and giving person. She was a supportive wife and mother. She will be missed by her family and friends.

A private memorial was held at her home on Wednesday September 23rd.
