Ekaterini Vlamis of New Paltz, NY, age 44, passed away on December 22, 2020. She left behind her parents, Leonidas and Adrienne (Wood) Vlamis of New Paltz and her brother, Giorgios Vlamis, sister-in-law Robin, and her nephews and niece, Leo, William, and Elizabeth of Morristown, NJ, along with many extended family members. Ekaterini had too many good friends to mention them all; she felt blessed in that area of her life.
Ekaterini was a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend to many. She loved the outdoors, and devoted most of her life to educating youth and adults in science, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills. She was a graduate of New Paltz High School (1994), of Hartwick College (BA in biology 1998) and the University of New Hampshire (MS in Kinesiology, Experiential Education 2002). She had several careers, working as a teacher of various grade levels, GED and Private tutor, YMCA camp schools and colleges program director, team builder, fundraiser for humanitarian work, office manager of a local church, and owner of Edgewood Consulting & Services – a business that offered teambuilding programs, guided hikes, and workshops. When not working, she was outdoors walking, hiking, biking, or socializing with friends, serving in church, and volunteering in the community.
A small, private, outdoor Christ-loving life celebration will be held for close family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the organization “Be the Match,” a nonprofit that helps bone marrow transplant patients, family members, caregivers, and survivors: bethematch.org.
