Colleen Carroll Schain

Colleen Carroll Schain, 63, died peacefully at home on October 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 26, 1955 in Poughkeepsie, NY and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine Murphy Carroll.  She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Marc Schain, her daughter, Jessica Schain Baker, daughter-in-law, Christy Baker and their two month old grandson, August Schain Baker.

In addition, she is survived by her four sisters, Maureen Drozenski and her husband, Charles (Chip) Drozenski, Holly Van Kleeck and her husband, James Van Kleeck, Kathy (Cate) Bronson and her husband, Peter Bronson, Eileen Gambino and her husband, Parker, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Susan Schain.  In addition, Colleen had eight nephews and nieces, along with their spouses and eleven great nieces and nephews.  Colleen also has remaining many aunts, uncles and cousins, who all cared dearly for Colleen.

Colleen was a licensed massage therapist and had her own private practice.  She was known for her love of animals and volunteered for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, raising puppies so they could become great guide dogs.  Colleen would always be out hiking on the trails of The Mohonk Preserve with her two black Labs, Lani and Marcia, along with a friend or two.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 3 pm at Copeland Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY  12561.

The family will be sitting Shiva at their residence on Tuesday, October 16 from 4 – 8 pm and relatives and friends are welcome to pay their respects.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association, Hospice, Inc., or Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Colleen’s memory.
