Christopher James Towlson

Christopher James Towlson, AKA Kit Towlson, passed away on August 29th, 2019 at Glens Fall Hospital.

Kit was born on April 28, 1947 near London, England in the Village of Iver Heath. Growing up in the countryside taught him to love animals, flowers, and birds.  He was also extremely passionate about music. In his 20’s he apprenticed in sign writing and painted signs thoughout London. It was also during this time that he started gigging in the UK.  He toured all over Europe and parts of the Middle East with different bands including Gnasher and The Sorrows.

In 1980 Kit moved to Saugerties, NY where he married, had two children, and became part of the music and art scene. His sign work and carpentry can still be seen in the area and his last album, Town & Eastern, will be posthumously released in the coming months.

Kit is survived by his sister Gene, son James, daughter Brook, and three grandchildren, Lily, Vivian and Llewyn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26th at Richards Funeral Home (29 Bross St) in Cairo, NY from 11am-1pm.
