Betty M. Decker

Betty M. Decker, 95, of Spaulding Lane, Saugerties died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the Kingston Hospital after being ill for just a few short days. Born January 6, 1927 in Saugerties, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Helen Luhrs VanVlierden. A lifetime area resident, she was formerly employed at the Corner Bakery, Saugerties Sportswear and Methods Tooling, retiring in 1989. Active in the community, she was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church, the Saugerties American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Centerville Fire Co. Auxiliary, the Saugerties Senior Citizens Club #2 and a former member of the Saugerties Leftfooters.

Predeceased by her husband, Walt Decker in 1996 and three sisters: Marie Martin, Bertha Lasher and Margaret Swart. Survivors include her Godson Ronald K. Myers and his wife Maggie and their two children, Viola and Reid K. all of Saugerties. In addition, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral procession will form at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, February 3 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Streets, Saugerties then to the Centerville Methodist Church where at 1 p.m. her funeral service will be conducted. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Mt. Marion Cemetery in the Spring.
