Ulster County Sheriff Juan Figueroa says he will run for reelection this year, seeking a third term as the county’s top law-enforcement official. Figueroa, a Democrat, announced his plans days after the start of the 2026 election cycle, framing the campaign around public safety and civil rights.
The sheriff’s race will be decided in the November 3, 2026 general election, with party primaries scheduled for June 23.
Figueroa was first elected in 2018, defeating longtime sheriff Paul VanBlarcum after a hard-fought Democratic primary season and a general-election campaign that highlighted sharply different approaches to the office.
