Emergency crews from the Hurley Fire Department announced they responded to two separate incidents today involving smoke and potential fire hazards.
The first occurred around 11:25 a.m. following a carbon monoxide alarm at a residence. Authorities found smoke throughout the home and conducted a search to confirm no residents were inside. Additional fire units and medical support were called in. The fire, located in the garage, was quickly extinguished and confirmed to be contained. No one was found inside.
Later, at 7:24 p.m., a second call reported smoke and electrical issues at another home. Firefighters arrived to find the house evacuated and smoke present. The cause was traced to a burnt power outlet under the residence. Utility crews cut power, and no further damage was reported.
