A collision between a tractor-trailer and an SUV led to serious injuries in the Town of Wawarsing, reported the Ulster County Sheriff’s office.
On the morning of Feb. 25, 2025, at approximately 7:06am, deputies responded to the accident on Rt. 52 near Old Greenfield Road. According to the investigation, a 2014 GMC Acadia driven by a 36-year-old woman from Mountain Dale, was traveling west on Rt. 52 when it veered across the center markings into the oncoming lane. The vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound 2020 Freightliner operated by a 47-year-old man from Saugerties.
The driver of the GMC Acadia sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders from the Ellenville First Aid and Rescue Squad provided medical assistance at the scene before she was transported and later airlifted to Westchester Medical Center by the Life Net Critical Care Flight Team. The operator of the Freightliner was uninjured.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
