The latest round of quarterly testing came back non-detect for PFOS in two of Woodstock’s seven town wells, with results for the remaining wells expected soon.
Two of the five wells served by pump house 2, which handles five wells, came back below detectable levels. Samples were taken at the town’s other five wells, including the affected two-well field served by pump house 1, a week later and results for those are pending.

Town supervisor Bill McKenna and water and sewer superintendent Larry Allen have speculated that PFOS-containing lubricant used at the pump or other piece of equipment at Well #2 may have been the source of the previous contamination.
A prior testing in May showed 2.39 ppt for pump house 2. Subsequent testing has taken samples from individual wells.
Testing at the town’s other well field containing five wells has always come back non-detect.
The watchdog group Woodstockers United for Change has called for source tracing and increased scrutiny since 2023, when PFOS at 0.86 ppt was revealed in the town’s annual water-supply report.
