The Saugerties Arts Commission is busy, with reports and art shows on the web, Trustee Jeannine Mayer reported at the Village Board meeting on March 1. The organization, which states on its website that it “aims to make our arts community stronger by highlighting cultural events and artists in all genres, and forging strong connections between the arts and the public.” Mayer suggested that board members and the public have a look at the organization’s web page, https://saugertiesartscommission.org/, which highlights area artists, lists upcoming events and gives contact information.
The commission’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/saugertiesartscommission/, lists upcoming shows and artists’ profiles as well. The group is also working on “creative place making” which consists of “mapping, basically gathering information and analyzing what we have in the town and village, not just in terms of what artists we have, but for example, local churches have choirs. There are a lot of programs they’re working on,” Mayer concluded.
