Village of New Paltz trustees closed the public hearing on a law to regulate short-term rentals at their January 27 meeting, but the mayor requested that they do not vote on the law’s passage until their first meeting in February. The law would require the registration and inspection of all short-term rentals in the same manner as other rental units. It would also restrict short-term rentals in residential zones to buildings that are the primary residence of the individual overseeing the rentals. In commercial areas, residency is not a requirement.
