The Saugerties Animal Shelter has been working on plans for a new building, said councilman Michael Ivino at the regular meeting of the Saugerties Town Board on October 7. “I believe the final selection of a site has been chosen and we have started choosing building material, not only for the outside, but the inside of the building as well.”
The organization’s capital campaign hopes to kick off in a few weeks. The animal shelter is raising money for the building, said councilman John Schoonmaker, with $200 donations for two kittens. People wanting to donate to the shelter can drop off donations of supplies for animals at the shelter at the Saugerties Public Library through October 17, Schoonmaker said.
