Saugerties Library budget passes, trustees running unopposed return

Summer reading challenge begins at Saugerties library

The Saugerties Public Library

Saugerties voters overwhelmingly approved the Saugerties Public Library budget and voted for the three unopposed candidates. Voters approved the $658,611 2021 budget 132-9. The budget decreased spending by 2.48 percent from the 2020 budget, which stood at $675,358.  The property tax levy — the amount to be raised by property taxes — was $617,796 for 2021.

The overwhelming vote in favor of the budget shows that people support their library, said library director Jennifer Russell.

Elected unopposed to five-year terms were Julie Misiano, Ginger Jurecka-Blake and Irene Hurst.

Russell said that the library board and director are working on an updated Master Plan, which is nearly complete. The next step would be to implement the plan, she said.
