Shots fired during neighbor dispute in Saugerties

Saugerties Police arrested Marco J. Roe, 51, of Michelle’s Boulevard yesterday in connection with a dispute during which he allegedly fired a rifle.

Police responded to the 911 call at 8:26 p.m. last night. Several witnesses reported to police that they observed Roe walk out of his house with a rifle and then fire the rifle into the air. According to witnesses, Roe had been arguing with a neighbor over $40. Other witnesses also told police that they observed Roe arguing outside his residence with his fourteen-year old daughter, at one point grabbing a phone away from the 14-year-old.

Roe was arrested and charged with the misdemeanors of


  • Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling;
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child; Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. (Roe, a convicted Felon is prohibited from possessing any firearms.)

Police located and seized the rifle and an expended shell casing. Roe submitted to a breath test, establishing his BAC at .175.

Roe was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court and released upon his own recognizance. Child Protective Services was contacted by police and is participating in the investigation.
