Village to haulers: vex another town’s slumber!

trash-topTrash haulers that serve the village are willing to adjust their pick-up hours in order to not disturb the sleep of residents.

Trustee Vincent Buono, who was charged at the last board meeting with making this request, reported at a Jan. 20 meeting that while haulers aren’t exactly thrilled to adjust their schedules, they are willing to go along.

Trustees have received complaints from a number of residents complaining about the early morning garbage pickups.

Rather than picking up trash between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. as they do now, haulers have said they will do their rounds from 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., but added they want to be out of the village soon after that so they do not interfere with businesses opening and school buses.

“I’ve [spoken with] County Waste, Waste Management and the other haulers that serve the village and they said they are willing to work with us,” Buono said. “I think this is the best we can hope for.”
