Julie Dunn was appointed interim receiver of taxes for the town of Saugerties at the Aug. 13 Town Board meeting.
Dunn has been the town bookkeeper since February of this year. Prior to that, she worked as a clerk in the receiver of taxes department for a year and a half, and as village treasurer for nine years.
The position was vacated last month following the untimely death of Suzi Filak, who was unopposed in her re-election bid last November. It will be on the ballot again this November, the only town office up for a vote.
The Saugerties Republican and Democratic committees will be interviewing candidates and holding caucuses in the coming weeks. Dunn, who is unenrolled, said she will seek support from both.
The position pays $37,758.
