Lush Eco Salon has officially opened its doors in the heart of downtown New Paltz. Raising the industry standard, Lush aims to be the Hudson Valley’s first “clean-air” salon, offering complete eco-conscious hair, skin care and nail services. With more than 20 years of combined industry experience, the founders of Lush, Stephanie Chick and Melissa Rios, believe that beauty should not be achieved through a compromise in health.
“Integrating beauty, health and wellness in a salon model has been a long-term goal and has been the inspiration to create an eco-conscious and ‘clean-air’ salon environment,” said Chick. “We are committed to seeking out the most progressive and transparent product lines in the industry, with the intention of providing pro-organic and cruelty-free products to our clients. Respect for the health and vitality of the individual and the environment is a primary goal.”
Some of the available treatments at Lush include ammonia-free hair color, formaldehyde-free smoothing treatments, fume-free nail enhancements, as well as five-free nail lacquer. In addition, Lush offers a selection of hand-made products from local artisans, which promotes the growth of the local economy.
“After doing acrylic nails for years, I look forward to providing nail enhancements that are fume-free and better for the customer and environment,” said Rios.
The technicians at Lush include: Chick, a cosmetologist specializing in natural hair color restoration, hair sculpting, body waxing, skincare and makeup artistry; Rios, a cosmetologist and licensed massage therapist specializing in nail enhancements, body waxing, hair care and therapeutic massage; Kristie Pontillo, a cosmetologist specializing in hair color and hair sculpting; Angela Evans, an esthetician specializing in skincare, body waxing and makeup artistry; Kaylea Cavalari, a nail technician specializing in nail enhancements, manicures and pedicures; Amma Boatemaah, a cosmetologist specializing in ethnic hair and natural nails; and Dylan Tripi, a licensed massage therapist specializing in deep-tissue massage.
Lush will also offer online booking. “Clients are encouraged to utilize this service, which ensures that they will no longer have to wait until business hours to schedule an appointment or to see if their favorite technician is available on a certain date,” said Chick. “Of course booking over the phone is also available, as well as walk-in appointments. We strive to accommodate the needs of all clients and it is recognized that online booking is a convenient option for many.”
