The Rondout Repertory Theatre Company’s Young Actors’ Troupe will perform a stage version of E. T. A. Hoffman’s original story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King on Friday, December 6 at 6 p.m. and on Saturday, December 7 at 3 and 6 p.m. at the Unison Arts Center, located at 68 Mountain Rest Road in New Paltz.
The actors hail from Kingston, New Paltz and Gardiner and range in age from 8 to 14. Two of the troupe’s high school senior actors from this past summer’s production of Romeo and Juliet, Meaghan McElroy and Katie Marrinan, are serving as stage managers and will provide live sound effects. The costumes are designed by Mille Weinman, and Corinne D’Andrea created the set pieces. The stage adaptation is by Liz Burdick and Stephanie Marrinan and direction by Stephanie Marrinan.
