Film screening in Poughkeepsie benefits Half Moon Theatre

simon @The Mid-Hudson Heritage Center will host a screening of the award-winning film “The Sublet” and short film “Jimmy’s Cafe” Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. The event is a benefit for Poughkeepsie’s Half Moon Theatre, whose associate artist Roger Hendricks Simon is featured in both films.

“The Sublet,” a comedy directed and written by Georgiana Nestor, stars Simon as a lonely widower in New York City who places an ad in the newspaper to sublet his apartment, resulting in a series of madcap events and a total upheaval of his life as wacky characters invade his peaceful existence. Some of the scenes feature Poughkeepsie. “Jimmy’s Cafe,” written by Jude Albert, directed by Dan Simon and produced by The Simon Studio stars Simon, Lora Lee Ecobelli, Joe Capone and Kathleen Crampton in a story of the trials and tribulations of small town middle-aged romantics.  It was shot on location at Alex’s Restaurant in Poughkeepsie.

Roger Hendricks Simon recently played opposite Michael Douglas in Oliver Stone’s Wall Street, Money Never Sleeps and has directed and acted for Yale Rep, NY Shakespeare Festival, Dublin’s Abbey Theatre and London’s Royal Court Theatre. Following the screening, Simon and members of the cast will do a question-and-answer session with the audience. General admission tickets with limited seating available are $10 at the door. The Mid-Hudson Heritage Center is located at 317 Main Street, Poughkeepsie. For reservations, call (212) 841-0204 or visit www.midhudsonheritage.org.
