An accident Thursday night at Solite on Kings Highway in Saugerties claimed the life of a worker, according to town of Saugerties police.
At 6:53 p.m. Thursday evening, Nov. 1, Saugerties police were dispatched to the Northeast Solite Corporation located at 1135 Kings Highway, Saugerties for an industrial accident.
According to police, Stephen J. Wickham, 30, of Greenville, NY, was operating an industrial drill, boring holes for demolition charges, when he became entangled in the shaft of the machines auger. As a result Wickham sustained severe trauma, succumbing to his injuries at the scene.
Saugerties Police were assisted at the scene by members from the New York State Police, Diaz Ambulance, Mount Marion Fire Department and investigators from the U.S Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration.
