Inquiring Minds to host The Fermented Man

fermented-man-@Derek Dellinger, brewmeister at the Kent Falls Brewing Company in Connecticut, followed a growing interest in the process of fermentation all the way off the deep end, to a conclusion that a human could probably live on nothing but fermented foods and beverages. He set himself a daunting and improbable task: to spend an entire calendar year – 2014 – personally proving his hypothesis. His quest took him around the world, and resulted in a brand-new book: The Fermented Man: A Year on the Front Lines of a Food Revolution, just published by Overlook Press.

Part-memoir, part-science experiment, part-cookbook, The Fermented Man is a one-of-a-kind exploration into a world of food that is endlessly flavorful and complex. Dellinger, who lives in Beacon, will be taking his book tour to the Inquiring Minds Bookstore at 6 Church Street in New Paltz on Friday, July 29 for a 7 p.m. talk and signing. Admission is free.
